COMPUTERS CLASSIFICATION

Computers are classified in different ways based on various factors.
The factors are a) Technology used b) working principles c) computer size d) purpose
e) data processing.
1. Fifth generation computers are based on artificial intelligence. (a)
2. Hybrid computers have qualities of the analog computers and the digital computers. (b)
3. Business computers are large computers. (c)
4. Home computers are small computers. There is no difference between a home computer or a personal computer and a Laptop is a portable one. (c)
5. Super computers are in news always because of their super speed. (c)
6. General purpose computers ( Engineering, scientific, commercial purposes etc.,) and Special purpose computers perform special purpose ( pay rolls of employees of a government office, a private company, a public undertaking etc.,) (d)
7. HIM computers take instructions from remote and servo-controlled applications ( robots, rocket launching pads etc.,) and KIPS computers have the ability of reasoning, thinking and can take decisions (d)
8. Batch processing modes are useful for office work (accounts) and Real time modes are useful whenever it is required to perform a desired action as in online transactions to get an instant response. (d)
9. Computers are called LOGIC MACHINES because of LOGIC CIRCUITS or LOGIC GATES.
WHAT IS THE RELATION BETWEEN LOGIC AND COMPUTERS?
Yes. Logic is related to right thinking and proceeds in a step wise manner.
Aristotle developed the famous deductive logic. See the example given below:
All men are mortal,
Socrates is a man,
Therefore, Socrates is a mortal.
WHAT IS THE RELATION BETWEEN LOGIC, MATHEMATICS and COMPUTERS?
Mathematics and logic are inter-related. The designing of a computer is based on mathematical logic in addition to various other factors.
George Boole a mathematician developed a new type of mathematical logic. In Boolean logic the problems are solved by true or false and yes or no i.e., we are dealing with two choices.
